Volunteering and Community Participation
There are many opportunities for parents, family members and people from the community to be involved at Clarendon Primary School.
Areas include but are not limited to:
- Governing Council
- Parent group / fundraising / coffee, cake and chat mornings
- Learning support and classroom help
- Listening to reading
- Kitchen and garden lessons
- Working bees
- Sports carnivals and activities
- Special events such as Harmony Day, Grandparents’/Elders’ Day & Sports Day
Parents, friends and community members are also welcome to attend our assemblies, held on Wednesday afternoons from 2.30pm in Weeks 3, 6 & 9 in the Resource Centre.
To volunteer at Clarendon Primary School you must first complete the volunteer application form including the names of two referees (one of these can be a site staff member or a class teacher who knows you). Return this information to the school office and Jackie Cooney will generate an application through DCSI. All regular volunteers and helpers are required to have a current Working with Children Check. You can log onto screening.sa.gov.au to complete the information and start this process.
You must also log into plink.sa.edu.au to complete:
- Online Responding to Abuse and Neglect
- General Induction for Volunteers
All new volunteers must also make an appointment with the volunteer co-ordinator Jackie Cooney for a site-based induction and to sign a Volunteer Agreement.
All volunteers and helpers are required to sign in on arrival, wear a visitor’s badge and have undertaken a Work Health and Safety induction prior to commencing their volunteering.
Information about volunteering and application forms for DCSI criminal history / working with children checks can be obtained from the office and costs associated will be covered by the school for regular volunteers.
Please note that all volunteers are bound to comply with all local site requirements and policies and are also bound to comply with the Department for Education Volunteer Policy (see link below).
